ROUTING & DISPOSITION

Brokered path vs. Arcwood path.

Two routes for the same drum. One scrambles between vendors for treatment, transport, and paperwork. The other routes it once.

TYPICAL

Brokered Path

  • Chemistry handed to an unknown subcontractor
  • Chain of custody breaks mid-stream
  • No visibility into the actual treatment facility
  • Treatment method depends on broker margin
  • Audit trail starts at the broker, not at disposition
ARCWOOD

Arcwood Path

  • Direct match to an Arcwood chemical waste specialist
  • Indianapolis RCRA Part B-permitted TSDF
  • Treatment hierarchy: reclaim, reuse, detoxify, dispose
  • Manifests and documentation built into the process
  • Single point of contact through final disposition

WHO YOU WORK WITH

Reclaim first. Dispose last.

“Every drum gets characterized, routed to the right pathway, and tracked to final disposition. Acids don't get mixed with caustics. Heavy metals don't share a bin with lab packs. We sort it, we route it, we document it.”

CHEMICAL WASTE FAQ

Chemical waste disposal: answered.

Quick answers to what commercial generators ask before sending chemical waste to Arcwood — streams, pickup, disposition, and what we won't take.

What commercial chemical wastestreams does Arcwood handle?

Acids and caustics, heavy metals, cyanides and plating streams, wastewater treatment residuals, reactives, off-spec and DEA-controlled materials, lab packs and small containers, universal waste (batteries, lamps, mercury, pesticides), and organic solvents/paints/coatings/oils. From a few bottles to bulk tankers and rail cars.

Where are Arcwood's facilities? Can you pick up near me?

Yes. Our Indianapolis TSDF anchors a North American network: 5 treatment facilities, 14+ service centers, and continental U.S. transportation including hazardous and non-hazardous rail. We confirm pickup coverage when you submit your zip code.

How quickly can Arcwood pick up?

We respond within ~15 minutes during business hours with a disposition path and pickup options. Lead time on the pickup itself depends on stream type, volume, and your location — your specialist will confirm that on the first call.

Where does my waste end up after pickup?

Every container is routed to a permitted Arcwood facility — neutralization, stabilization, fuel blending, incineration, or RCRA Subtitle C landfill — based on the chemistry. You receive manifests and Certificate of Disposal documentation tied to final disposition.

Do you handle residential or household chemical waste?

No. Arcwood services commercial generators only. For residential household hazardous waste, please contact your municipal HHW program.

Is Arcwood properly permitted?

Yes. Indianapolis is a RCRA Part B-permitted TSDF (EPA IDs IND980503890 and IND078611146). Our network includes RCRA Subtitle C landfill capacity, and we operate DOT, OSHA, and EPA RCRA/TSCA compliant.

What container types can Arcwood accept?

Drums, buckets, totes, bulk shipments, tankers, and rail cars. Permitted capacity at Indianapolis includes 122,000 gallons of container storage, 781,000 gallons of tank storage, and 3,400 cubic yards of containment.

Do I get manifests and documentation?

Yes. Cradle-to-grave bar-code tracking on every container, with manifests and documentation built into the process and tied to final disposition — your audit trail starts at disposition, not at a broker.
